How to edit Hindi (Devanagari) PDFs and scanned Hindi documents
Office orders, circulars and notices in Hindi often arrive as scanned PDFs. PDF Master Editor can read and write Devanagari, so you can update them without retyping the whole page.
Typing in Hindi
In Edit PDF, add a text box and type with your Hindi keyboard (for example Google Indic Keyboard or Windows Hindi input). Choose the font Noto Sans Devanagari for print-style text or Kalam for a handwritten look. With voice control on, you can also say “नमस्ते लिखो” and the words are added in a Devanagari font automatically.
Scanned Hindi documents
- Open the scanned PDF in Edit PDF.
- When the editor offers to convert it, choose the language: English, English + हिन्दी or हिन्दी. Mixed documents work best with English + Hindi.
- Wait while each page is read. The first run downloads the language data once; later runs are faster.
- Click any recognised line to edit it, or use “Turn all lines into editable text”.
Checking the result
OCR for Devanagari is good but not perfect. Matras, conjuncts and numbers deserve a careful read. Clear, straight, well-lit scans give the best accuracy.
Find and replace
Need to change a date or session everywhere, such as 2025-26 to 2026-27? The Find and replace box in the editor's side panel changes every occurrence at once.
